India: Networking giant Cisco announced that it would set up an Internet of Everything (IoE) innovation centre in Vizag and would also sponsor and collaborate on a 12-month research programme with Andhra University. Cisco also announced that it will invest in an advanced technology centre of excellence and research lab in the Institute of Digital Technology at Tirupati.

Cisco said the IoE innovation centre in the Port City will focus on fostering regional innovation and enable partners and startups to build solutions around IoE and engage in rapid prototyping. In a release, Cisco said that it would also act as a platform to bring startups, accelerators, developers, researchers, ecosystem partners and the venture community together to showcase possibilities of IoE.

As part of the collaboration with Andhra University, Cisco said that it will sponsor and collaborate with AU on a 12-month research program to identify and explore the possibility of developing and customising digital technologies and solutions for rural Andhra Pradesh.

The advanced technology centre of excellence and research lab in Tirupati will focus on cyber security, smart city and manufacturing solutions. The centre will help train graduate engineers in advanced digital technologies and solutions and equip them with skill sets required for the digital era.
